English
The English department at Grosse Pointe South is proud to offer a wide range of engaging, meaningful courses. The High School Program of Studies describes our course offerings and graduation requirements. Our dedicated educators are committed to helping students grow as readers, writers, speakers, and critical thinkers. We seek to help students thrive as individual learners and thoughtful, contributing members of a larger community. Our Student Pledge of Academic Integrity is a core ethical commitment and expectation of all GPPSS students.
We believe in the power of an academic mindset: I belong in this academic community; I can succeed at this; my ability and competence grow with my effort; this work has value for me.
Here at South, students can strengthen and refine their voice in several ways, including: curriculum and text-selection feedback; ongoing course discussions, presentations, and projects; writing clubs and workshops; and through our award-winning publications, The Tower, The Tower Pulse, and The Looking Glass.
